The goal with 8th grade art is to explore as many different medias, techniques, and artists as possible in a single semester. So far, students have had time to experiment with drawing, painting, and collage. The next media our 8th graders are exploring is sculpture. During these few days of investigation, students will work with a variety of materials - wire, fabric, paper, cardboard, air dry clay, aluminum foil and other found objects to create five different sculptures:
Some of the stations students created individual sculptures and some stations were group sculptures. Students learned vocabulary and techniques different for each medium and artwork. At the group stations, students were challenged by communicating ideas clearly and collaborating productively. All of the artworks worked on problem solving and creativity.
