We started with some group activities - contour and blind contour drawings, value and shading exercises, gesture drawings of classmates and a from Betty Edwards, an upside down drawing of Igor Stravinsky.
After some warm up exercises, students brought in objects to observe - some personal, a favorite figurine, valued trophy, a portable speaker for the music lover - and other students observed items that were convenient - a water bottle that was carried to every class, a favorite baseball cap worn daily, and even a Chromebook. Each object was a little different and each drawing turned out unique and also gave a little glimpse into the life of the artist.
