Intro to 2D Art students just finished up their "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" artworks where they focused on value and contrast. Subjects ranged from dark and creepy to hobbies and interests but works were only done in black and white. Now, what I really need is more cowbell - just kidding! More color! This week is Painting Bootcamp - where we spend a short amount of time practicing a whole bunch of important techniques and skills related to painting. |
After practicing color intensity, we practiced brushstrokes. I notice most high school students try to blend in every single brushstroke, but why not show them off?! Finally, we got some inspiration from Bob Ross and painted some landscapes. Students used their color mixing skills to paint a simple landscape with a variety of colors and brushstrokes. And after we listened to Bob Ross compliment our artworks, we felt pretty good about ourselves and our work! Look for more about color and repetition coming soon! |
